The high DPI is nice, but the ration is 16:9.  I was looking for a 3840x2400 16:10 (WQUXGA) display for a laptop but I came up empty.  IBM did make a 22" version of the 3840x2400 but that has been the only panel in that resolution that I have found so far.  A disadvantage of the IBM display is it's slow refresh time of 41/48Hz.

you mean 3 * 7-segment display or an actual LCD?

3 * 7-segment display.  So I guess it could be LED or the watch/calculator LCD.

Displays / 15.4" 16:10 2880x1800 Display
March 04, 2015, 04:45:30 PM
The 15.4" 16:10 2880x1800 Display was the Retina display used in the MacBook Pro.

There where two panels used.  One made by LG (LP154WT1-SJA1) and the other made by Samsung (LSN154YL01-001).  The LG had ghosting and burn in problems so the Samsung should be the unit to be used.

Samsung's Display part #LSN154YL01-001  (It looks like other parts numbers 002, 003, etc as well)

There are currently 10,000 pieces available.

I could not find a datasheet yet for this panel.

A company is making a display board for this panel:

Some good information on someone who was working on their on board to control the panel:

I'd like to see a Thinkpad A31p keyboard.  Dedicated trackpoint with no trackpad.
